getting messy

I’ve been trying to break out of my comfort zone and play around a bit. I’ve been taking some online classes through Studio Calico on using different media, including gesso, watercolors, acrylics on stencils, distress inks, etc. I made the background for this page before I even had a clue what the page was going to be.

I have a drawer full of extra prints of some of my favorite photos, and I decided this 8x10 of Logan from a few years ago would be perfect with the colors. I decided to document the phrase I always say to Logan – “Love you more than there are stars in the sky!”

I stamped the “Love you” with Stazon ink, colored it in with watercolor pencils and painted over it with my water brush. I used acrylic paint and some Martha Stewart letter stencisl for the “STARS” and “sky” on the photo.

I also added some acrylic paint at the border of the photo. And added a bit of journaling pen to add some detail to some of the accents. Fun page for me that is definitely out of my comfort zone! Definitely more “techniques” than I will probably use on a single page in the future, but it was definitely fun to experiment!
