Father’s Day cards

It’s always kind of tough for me to make a more masculine card – not sure why considering I don’t think my scrapbook pages turn out very girly, but apparently my cards do! So combine my dad’s birthday and Father’s Day (requiring a card for my dad and husband) into one week, and I had to figure out a way to make it work. Here are the Father’s Day cards I made for each. I’ll share my dad’s birthday card another day!
For my dad, I decided to go pretty black and white. I have a gazillion washi tapes, and they are all sorted in my color bins. So to find all my black/white/gray ones took me about a quarter of a second. I decided to use my giant alpha roller stamp for the message.

When I was done I wanted a pop of color, so I used my trusty star punch and some colorful scraps, with a wood veneer star dipped in some ink. LOVE making simple washi cards!! And seriously – that gray chevron washi in my stash is underused. It’s so cute! I think it was from a Studio Calico kit?

For Trung’s card, I used a random assortment of my favorite rubber and clear stamps in a color scheme I chose out of my scrap pile. I was going to do a subway art style card at first, but then decided to use little bits and tags to make more of a mosaic.

I popped the most important ones up (the best dad ever and the cute little heart I got from One Happy Mama) with popdots to make those stand out. Simple, but lots of happy messages!
