a recent conversation - or song rather!

I had a really rough day at work.  Probably the toughest since I started here in May, thanks to some consultants and contractors not doing their jobs.  Back to the #reverb10 post where I mentioned I care too much sometimes - I really let it get me down, even though I'd obviously done everything I could.

The bad day continued with having a very difficult conversation with a contractor who called me back as I walked into day care to pick up Logan.  I had to have the conversation - I'd been waiting for him to call me back.  Logan came running up to me hugging me and excited to see me while in the middle of the call.

I anticipated a struggle with him as I often do at pickup.  He gets overexcited and runs around like a maniac while I frantically try to get us out the door.  But he was super sweet and generally cooperative, so we got out fairly quickly.  I was run down from a rough day so was thankful.

But then in the car this sweet boy did something that turned my day around.

Anyone who knows the musical Bye, Bye Birdie knows the song "We love you, Conrad".  I've used that song as a basis for the song "I love you, Logan" since he was a tiny baby.  I started to sing the song to him in the car on the way home, which isn't that unusual.

What was unusual (and the highlight of my week) is that he sang it back to me.

I love you, Mommy.
Oh yes I do!
I love you, Mommy.
And I'll be true.
When you're not with me, I'm blue!
Oh Mommy, I love you!

Oh, buddy, I love you too.  More than you'll ever know.
