christmas in july

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

The blog world apparently thinks July is the right time to prepare for Christmas.  I'm sure if you ask my sister Kelly, she'd be groaning, but agreeing (at least in terms of the retail world).

There are a lot of great ideas floating out there that might be good for me to have around come November when I'm trying to think of gifts to make for friends and family (then abandon those ideas come early December and buy them something online instead).

1. According to Kelly has a series going on called Holiday Bake, Craft and Sew Along with a ton of great ideas for handmade gifts.  These gift bags turned out so adorable! (Click photo for link to that post - link above to the series).

2. One of my favorite sites, Write Click Scrapbook, had a series of posts this week about Christmas, including scrapbook ideas but also free downloads of tags and treat bag toppers ideas.  You can see all five posts here:
   Tags & Handprint Gifts
Treat Bag Toppers & Countdown Calendars
   Holiday Greetings & Mini Album
Thank yous & December Daily Album
   Labels  (image of labels below)

3. If you haven't discovered Tip Junkie, head over there to see her great themed posts linking to all sorts of tutorials.  They did a great series on Christmas last week too.  Here are the posts I enjoyed:
   Cards & Papercrafts
   Homemade Christmas Ornaments
   Ideas for Keeping Holidays Organized
   Advent Calendars
   Handmade Christmas Gifts for Kids
Handmade Christmas Stocking Tutorials (just a few are shown in image below)
   Creative Gift Card Holders

4. It's a Good Day hosted a Christmas in July series of guest bloggers.  It included a post on how to make this cool wreath.

5. Finally, this is not a recent post from Stacy Julian, but one that has been in my bookmarks in preparation for this Christmas season.  She creates a book of lists every year for keeping organized over the holidays - love it!
