Normal Day

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

Things have been crazy around here lately.  Work is awful (don't ask why, but if someone asks you to renovate a train RUN).  Logan has been attached to my hip and upset when I drop him off at school.  I've been sleeping poorly, mainly because of the first two things.  When I'm at home I'm thinking about work (and lately actually doing work and work email).  When I'm at work, I'm thinking about home and Logan.  So it all adds up to some major chocolate cravings to get me through the day (my go to chocolate?  Here and here).

I've decided to revisit my New Year's Resolution, and use a mantra to remind myself about it.  My goal is to repeat my mantra every morning and night, and a few times in between.  If I blog about it then I have to do it, right?

My mantra - Be present in the moment.

Jessica Sprague posted a poem that I plan to print and put in a frame in my house AND on my desk.

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.

Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart.
Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow.
Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so.
One day I shall dig my nails into the earth,
or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut,
or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return.
